Q: Why most of the car driver turned left when facing a sudden road block or blast ( terrorist bomb for instance )?.
A: Because they just did it according to the most frequent rhythmically stable machine handling of auto-car scenario; the Gas Station Procedure.
Every time a car enter a gas station, he must positioned his car at the left of the gas filler; then stabilize it with right hand and foot; the he must put off his car, get out and open the gas tank with his right hand, then close the tank, and ignite the car power with the right hand, push the car out of the road and steer it left to the main road.
So, steering to the left is a signal in Procedural Memory of a finished task; a job well done in a machine ( automobile ) handling just parallel with Gestalt law of Closure. It could also put as an automatic problem solving in machine handling.
So, when a driver suddenly face a BIG PROBLEM that must be solved unthinkably, his PROCEDURAL MEMORY flashed him a problem solving solution; a split second left steering behavior.
So, learning from this habit, in IRAQI WAR the terrorist could push a maximum damage to a convoy of American armored cars by planting a triangle roadside bomb against the convoys; one small bomb at the right side of the road and 2 bigger bombs on the left side of the road knowing that the Ami drivers must turned left when facing a right side bomb and put his chained vehicles turned left so they easily enter a trap of bigger bombs.

My solution to this problem?
Use a sensor of high vibrations ahead of the car and automatically disable the steering mechanic to gives no chance of the driver to steers left and facing enemy bomb traps.
